PR medical advisor scoops survivor book award

We are delighted to announce that one of our medical advisors, Dr Kathleen Thompson, has won the ‘Janey Loves’ Platinum Award for her book ‘From Both Ends of the Stethoscope – Getting Through Breast Cancer by a Doctor Who Knows’.

The prestigious Platinum Awards, created by Radio 2’s Janey Lee Grace and judged by a celebrity panel, including Carrie Grant, Zoe Ball and Dr Marilyn Glenville, cover aspects of well-being and health including Natural, Eco, and Organic Products and Services, and there was stiff competition in the books category.

Dr Kathleen told us, ‘I was amazed and thrilled to win this very special award. It is great validation for my book, which was written after I experienced cancer first-hand. Using my medical and research knowledge, I wanted to guide people, and their loved ones, through the illness, demystify medical information and help them make best treatment choices and understand, and, if necessary, challenge medical decisions.’

We would like to congratulate Dr Kathleen, who regularly speaks at and chairs Pink Ribbon symposia. This is her book’s second award, last year it won first prize in the Words for the Wounded book award.
